Hi,
I’ve seen a used GS Era Gold MK V for sale but it looks different to the ones currently available, different front plate so possibly and earlier version, not sure. I was hoping someone could let me know if there’s anything majorly different between this and the current version before I put a bid in. I can’t upload a picture of the unit but the below link does have a review / picture for reference. Thanks in advance

the early ones were presented differently and think the innards may have been too Graham or John C will be able to advise better.
The elevator shown on the TNT link Did look the same as Look of the Era gold V.

It's the original circuit on a tiny PCB with hard wired connections and has the Elna ROD capacitors. As of 2006 the EU banned just about everything in it, so it went through some design mods until around 2010 or 2012 when I redesigned it, unsurprisingly without any change to how it sounds. Provided the chip/chips haven't gone noisy it should sound just like the EGV sounds. Originally it used an AD826, then two AD817's on an adapter board. On later units a different op-amp is made to mimic the open-loop response of the earlier chips, and is why it sounds no different (that and finding capacitors to match the RODs).

That none should be able to buy or sell without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps
