I own a Novo headphone amp (the one with the black knob) bought on ebay a year ago...My question is why is it that i cannot achieve a satisfactory volume level using say..Beyerdynamics dt880 250 0hm or 600 ohm? The novo drives my AKG K550 @ I think 32 ohms just fine. The Specs say from 32 to 600 preferred.....Thank You.
Also would I be best to make the big jump$$$$ to the Solo or Solo diamond Linear? I know they sound better, but would they drive say te 250 or 600 ohm headphones better?

Have you tried turning the volume control to 2 or 3 o'clock? It is designed to work that way rather than using gain switches for higher impedances, because altering gain alters an amp's characteristic.

Even after reading the manual I found it strange to start with that the highest settings on the volume control did not cause distortion, it simply matched better to the loading. |
