The great Google image preview purge only hit South Yorkshire this week but I understand it has been talked about in the newspapers as far back as February. I'm asked a lot of questions by worried would-be customers about compatibility, and sometimes I use image search to help answer them, so it has been quite useful. Today I found image search just gave a page full of images you can't even click through to the website they're on, which makes it pretty damn useless! But apart from that you can no longer see a full size preview, so I did another search to inquire why. I note on Google's own forum (one of them) there are "experts" saying it doesn't work because your computer has a virus or malware on it, and that you have to go around deleting things off your computer... Don't! It no longer works because the big media companies told Google they didn't like it and Google did the only thing it could - it threw a tantrum! Then after its tantrum it seems it decided to do a work-around, but told nobody about it... So here's how: If you see an image you want to see larger, right click and select Open Link in New Tab. And in this new tab you can also elect to visit the site it's on, plus you can click the View Image button and still get the full-size image. Seems like a dumb work-around to me, but I'm sure there's a reason for doing it... Money perhaps? |

google also throws up a business profile on the right hand side which you cannot edit unless you adopt or suggest changes unless you have a gmail account. On asking for the Google DPO they were unable to provide contact details!
What a wonderful service they offer!
