What exactly is the difference between these two?

They both look like they'll do what I want.

The Jazz Club is based on the Era Gold V; the Revelation M on the Reflex M, and the Revelation C on the Reflex C.

M here means MM (moving magnet) and C means MC (moving coil, low output type).

The Jazz Club and the Revelation M will do the same job, but maybe the Revelation M could sound better to you?? That's why we have good people like Jon (Fatmangolf) who are willing to loan out our products (as volunteers) so you're not hoodwinked by clever marketing words.

Why we should still offer the Jazz Club when there's the Revelation M, and concidentally the Era Gold V when there's the Reflex M, is explained on these pages:

Each explanation goes:

The Jazz Club stereo phono preamplifier stage is a "legacy product" superseded by the Revelation phono preamplifiers. It was intended to be retired along with the Era Gold V phono preamp upon which the Jazz Club is based. However, public demand for both these phono preamps is still high and we therefore continue to manufacture and support them.

and...

The Era Gold V is a "legacy product" superseded by the Reflex M. It was due to be retired along with the Jazz Club archival phono preamp variant. However, public demand for both these phono preamps is still high and we therefore continue to manufacture and support them.

Why "replacements" were developed was down to an EU directive banning the use of alleged harmful substances (RoHS). We'll not go into that here.

Hope this helps?

And welcome to our little corner of the web.

Graham

The above ending requires further explanation.

Some of the components I was assured would not be available after RoHS were indeed made available, but as shrunk dies in DIL packages, regarding the op-amps.

After many months I was able to find passive components which resulted in me hearing the products as identical to the originals (all are free to dispute me if they wish - free country after all...).

After the shrunk die chips were found less reliable, I redesigned the active stages using an entirely different type of op-amp accessing its offset-null pins to perform the same open-loop gain and flat-bandwidth as the original (not a lot of people know that trick and I won't be doing a tutorial Wink).

Thanks Graham

Nowhere else would you get such in depth explanations (or any response at all generally).
I am a humble plumber/electrician so most of it goes over my head but I very much appreciate the time & effort on your part along with other patient forum members to help idiots like myself understand a bit more of the wizardry.

I doff my hat to you sir!
