One day I hope we will see through the smokescreen and in fact I think we soon will.

You see, we are in a Pythonesque utopia, a "bicycle repair man" sketch, which is as sustainable as a house of cards. Just giving you a clue from the USA: why do you think Trump was elected and who by? He was part of the decline, causing some of it, but people have short memories. However, there is/was a growing concern about a gaping social divide - failed state versus prosperous state - the former manufacturing states versus the "service industry" states. A racist (I am told) elected by many blacks? A hated man who nevertheless became president of the USA. It demonstrates the unrest amongst a particular type of underdog, who rebelled by voting for a non-politician.

It is instability. It cannot be seen by some because the change happened so slowly, and life continues as it always has, and everything is acceptable: OK, it's such a pity about knifings and acid attacks, but otherwise everything else is just great??

But there are the old manufacturing "belts" in the UK too. Those who don't have Toyota, Nissan, or Tata, and even those who do have some resentment. They are not of such proportion to have their voices heard, but the young are. They are the disconnect that will cause the tipping point. Even though they have no memory, or interest of the past, they will oust the present system, and the older end might not like the result.

And it is because money decided. Some people like to take part in the creation of things, but money decided to suppress them. Those who work or lead life not connected to the creation of things will obviously not share their feelings. In Britain we decided to push the age of growing up into the mid 30's through the promise of riches to come, but when those riches fail to materialise (as the few already found), and the mass of people realise they have had nearly half their lives wasted on a Pythonesque utopia, watch out!

But we could have taken the more difficult path, but then again, who'd have voted for that?

A Pythonesque utupia? - one person's utopia is another's hell.

Yes, the little UK manufacturers are still going  - I work for one.

We haven't had a pay rise for about 10 years - since we were taken to ransom by the egregious bankers & their equally sh*tty government friends -  but we all still work cheerfully.

The big investors in UK manufacturing aren't nice people - they are hard nose business types
that use the UK for a reason - we work hard & produce the goods.
