I always found it difficult to get a good sound from an Ortofon on a Rega Planar 3. I am in the middle of re-modelling my Rega Planar 3 because I'm firmly convinced it's not Ortofon's fault.

Simply by removing the mat from the old/original glass platter removes tons of mid to HF distortion. I had that first demo'ed by Dave Rusby of Lynwood Electronics years ago. Worth a try?
That none should be able to buy or sell without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps

I have absolutely no distortion issues but then again I have the RP3,I no a guy that does motor upgrades on the old planar 3's for much better performance.
