Wondering if anybody is using a Jelco arm on their turntable, which one, and what they're like?

That none should be able to buy or sell without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps

I have a Jelco 750D on my SL-1210, and I like it.
The only fly in the ointment is the arm pillar/base adjustment - the pillar doesn't get held vertically, so I have a collar from a nice chap named Hugo, which sorts the problem out. You also need to provide your own leadout cable - there's none provided. The arm's internal cabling is good. |

I use a 750E (10.5") as an alternative arm on my main deck.
Allows plenty of flexibility as to cartridge, from SPU to DL-103 and more. Should come with 2 counter weights allowing greater range of cartridge/headshell weights. What Chris said about the cable, their own Neglex is not shabby. Also re-iterate advice re aftermarket mounting collar. See here for more info on that. Think I recall some recent remarks indicating this series of arms is soon to be discontinued and or replaced. Plenty of folk were fitting the 750D to Technics a few years back and suitable armboards should be fairly easy to find. ...couldn't help myself, had to go looking :( - some more impressions on VE Just my feeling, but I think I might prefer a hardwood armboard to a metal one, or isolate the metal one from the plinth with small "O" rings around the plate mounting screws between the plate and the plinth to reduce ringing. I expect you can make up your own arm cable with a DIN plug too. Edited by tg - 13 Jan 2018 at 4:11am |
