Hi Paul,
It’s still getting a regular spin. It’s rocketed into my top 5 sets, so value has just gone up in my opinion.
Mick.

Thanks Mick!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be ordering the set at some point. It may be a little while, but I’ll be sure to let you know when I do.

Can anyone recommend a decent (best!) recording of Orf's Carmina Burana?
I currently have 3 LP's:
Andre Previn / LSO on EMI.

Vaclav Smetacek / Czech Philharmonic on Parliament (mono).

Michael Tilson Thomas / Cleveland orchestra on Columbia Masterworks (still sealed).

I plan to play LP's that i have mono and stereo versions of when i get my Accession, so i wonder if there are better recordings than i already have (i am sure there are!).
I am not keen on Previn's interpretation as it seems to "drag". The Smetacek mono copy is beat up and noisy and i only got the Tilson Thomas copy last month so i have no idea how it sounds.

I went to a Carmina Burana concert last year and was soon all teary eyed, lump in the throat with goose bumps, which of course i want to reproduce in my small listening room!

The recording by Eugen Joachim is legendary.

Eugen Jochum - Orff: Carmina BuranaAvailable easily second hand AND new.
Enjoy!
