My Gram Amp 2 SE just keeps getting better and better. The system I have is pretty rubbish compared to others I've seen on here as I'm always short of money... However the SE has transformed my listening pleasure! The detail I can hear now is amazing. Now got a Novo amp on loan.. My wife's gonna kill me!

@ Sheepskinstu: Talking about details being revealed. I was yesterday listening to my Mobile Fidelity remastered album of Santana "Abraxas" when suddenly, I started to hear a sound I though was coming from my house front door, I get up to check on it, just to realized that it was coming from my subwoofer.
Now, I have listened to this album countless of times and I never heard that specific sound. Man, if I only would have realized what I've been missing all these years earlier I would have bought a external phono pre-amp long time ago. Well, better late than never. Now, If the Gram Amp 2 SE can give me this type of detail, I wonder what twice this price can get me.

Are you using the supplied SMPS PSU? If so a PSU1 would improve things, with improved detail retrieval, and better overall tonality. Will it be twice as good? (because it takes the combo up into the twice the price zone) - no, but once you've had time to become familiar and accustomed to the difference you won't want to go back to the supplied SMPS. |
