I've noticed that more and more people are buying and selling LPS on Instagram. Phonodelic and LostRPM come to mind. Has anyone on this forum ever bought or sold a record from Instagram?
What was the experience like? Was the LP in good shape as advertised? Can it be trusted?

Seriously though, my secondhand record buying is limited to specialist 2nd hand dealers where I can go and see the actual album or a couple of on line dealers I have come to trust. I would think the potential problem with buying through social media is knowing the integrity of the seller. It's not a route I would take - yet.

I had to ask my 'kids' what Instagram buying means & I have no intention of using a photo app to purchase stuff . Discogs has been great for me over many years & I have only had one LP which was well below its grading (I buy NM- OR VG+, then clean).
Having said that, I have just got home from my annual RSD pilgrimage - queued since just after midnight at my favourite indie today & got all I wanted - it's not just shopping as there are around 20 hardcore fans & we catch up every year, making the night/morning a great social event. I buy most of my music from 3 or 4 local independants.

It's this new thing that this company called Facebook bought a few years ago for a billion quid where people take photos and leave comments. Audio is mono though.

Seriously I've found that the internet has made scam artists and the like less likely to succeed. Where I have not purchased from Instagram - I have off Craiglist, Ebay, and Discogs and even in circumstances where vinyls are poorly graded or not delivered, the other party is quick to issue a refund and make sure that everyone is happy.
Just can't help but feel that Instagram is a simple extension of this. Especially amongst younger generations.
