CHR-120 spec says Vas is 58.89 litres. F0 is 34Hz.

Yes, lossy boxes help to ensure the direct sound dominates over omnidirectional emittance. For a small room and plenty of power availability, it better suits my expectations. My next cardboard box speakers will look far better than my previous attempts.

There aren't a lot of speaker drivers that can mechanically achieve deep bass, mids and highs up to 20kHz all from a single 12g diaphragm.

Lossy boxes also release the back pressure by flexing, damping the resonant peak. Even so you can work out alpha as about 1.5 for the closed box which gives you Fb and Qtc.

Morning Ash,

Was the investment in the USB card worth it, or have you now moved on to other things?

My USB and S/PDIF cards and Pi4B-Pi2AES Lite transport are on hold for the moment whilst I finish transitioning from MySphere 3.1 to Mark Audio speakers. I am really pleased with the Tozzi Two and CHP-90 drivers and have the CHR-90 and CHR-120 for comparison and deep bass respectively. Speakers provide more spatial information so I wish to use them, not headphones, for critical listening of transports and computers. Sound differences may be very subtle and may barely be heard without extended speaker listening to identify them objectively. The ability to project a sense of space is an important quality to be compared so once I've got a precise 20-80Hz alongside my Tozzi Two, I shall return to the transports. I want to have a look at RISC-V single board computers too.
