Hi, has anyone out there tried any of the three Stillpoints main Ultra support filters (mini, SS or 5) and had any PERSONAL experiences?
They are very expensive particularly if applied to various bits of kit, amps, CD, speakers, power supplies. Cheers |

Hi,
Yes, the mini and SS. I don't own them but a friend d£s and he brought them over for an afternoon. Yes, they sound different, but I can see them dividing opinion a little. In my system they tightened up the bass and added clarity, but at the expense of colour. I think I'd need to listen with them in the system for a raw weeks then take them away to see if I missed them. I currently use the first generation of Nordost Pulsar Points and I do like them. They did what the Stillpoints did only on a smaller scale. I think it comes down to suck it and see, like everything else. My floor is solid concrete slab and I believe these things are meant make a bigger difference on suspended wooden floors. I can jump up and down right next to my rack and hear nothing through my turntable. Good luck! Mick. |

I use a set of three mini under my valve preamp and am of the opinion that they are an improvement over sitting it on the shelf in the rack and over the Nordost Sortcones they usurped.
A friend and myself did a few different trials at one time and gained a similar impression to Mick, you need to try them for yourself to find out if you like what they do or not. As you say, not a cheap experiment, even for a set of 4 mini.

Many thanks for your feedback. My readings suggest that solid state benefits more -surprisingly.
Other fish to fry and pennies though find first. Kind regards |
