There's one mag, British, which openly states they don't review products they don't like. They try to only publish reviews of products when they've had success with getting them sounding good. This is also their rationale when when saying advertising money can't buy a good review if a bad product. Most issues will feature full late ads of the big ticket items that get tremendous reviews. Now, that could be completely above board or not, who knows. Opinions?

It strikes me. Mick, that this is a more honest approach (relatively speaking) than a magazine whose readers expect bad products to be reviewed poorly without knowing that a manufacturer has paid for a good review. 

In reality, all HiFi magazines need to be treated with extreme caution if you're reading them with a prospective purchase in mind. Which isn't to say that the articles can't be enjoyable on their own terms. A bit like a Trump speech: entertaining, but ultimately BS . . LOL

Agreed. I read magazines still for a bit of "keeping up with developments", but that's about all. Everything else is down to the ears. All I need to do now is add a CD transport and I'm happy. I'm listening to shed loads of LP's (Rega RP8/2M Black!) but my CD collection is looking sad and lonely!
