There's also the plain statistics that out of the hundreds or so famous musicians that one knows or even love, statistically speaking a few of them are bound to go before their time when they're still fairly youngish. Just like with everybody else, some will be less fortunate and get ill whilst still in their 60s, most won't however.
I secretly suspect that the baby boomer generation will outlive all the rest of us just from sheer doggedness
