First foray into the forum...
Happy owner of an original Slee Solo from circa 2004. I paired it with Grado SR125 that started me on Grado, and then some original Grado GS1000 when they were first released. Then I sold the expensive Grado and moved house a few years later. And the amp and cans went into boxes about 2009 and only resurfaced this year. Older and wiser I am now after a steady set up to build on, with less urge to buy everything and anything to try it and sell on (as seems to be the curse of headfi...). Sourced some 325e I am now looking to replace the sold top end Grados and after some reading I think the G1000s are still what I miss and I have no temptation to stray to the PS or R1 / 2 series. Anyone able to compare how the i and now the e compare? My instinct is to get the e as it is new, but some seem to argue the i. Hugely subjective, I know. Maybe some posters here have experience of the evolving sounds of that series...? On another note I think the Solo needs the ULD upgrade board... But that's for another thread maybe! And possibly a PSU1 although I have a home made one I am assured is comparable from its creator... |
