A Spotify email came this morning announcing that James Cohn's Symphonies 3,4, and 8 were now available for streaming. James who?

Curiosity got the better. James Cohn was born in 1928 in New Jersey and studied with (amongst others) Roy Harris - whose one movement 3rd Symphony is one of my all-time favourites.

Cohn's music is lyrical, pastoral in places, with more than a hint of Copland and Harris and I'd reckon should appeal to anyone who likes Walton, Bliss, Britten, Moeran, Bax etc.
