You Could try EAC (Exact Audio Copy).
It's free and will convert, rip, burn, etc most files. You may need the cuesheet file but it works well. If you want best quality it does seem to work best decompressing to wav first.
EAC can also compare your files to an online database and help get rid of any glitches.

Before anyone picks me up on Foobars abilities, it doesn't burn CDs. What it does do is enable the construction of a folder/playlist that can be burnt to disc by whatever software you choose.
I think Steve was looking for something to create CDs for use in his car, in which case a data CD or DVD will hold far more music at acceptable compression levels for car use.
Just listen, if it sounds good to you, enjoy it.

It may be an add-on I've got or maybe Foobar utilising some other burning program unbeknownst to me. But what I do is make a playlist no longer than 79 minutes (of FLACs or any other format) and then mark and select all the tracks, right click the selected tracks and then Convert > Write Audio CD.
Proprius, Reflex M, Solo UL, Bitzie, CuSats & Spatia
