I have printed various arc protractors over the past decade but these suit a particular arm mounting distance D. Where the convenience and transferability of the right angle (pivot to spindle to stylus) protractor is hard to beat. It is independent of the mounting distance (P2S or D as I have referred to it above). I am glad I bought Clearaudio's version that works this way, rather than Denneson and others that use a Lo-N1 offset between the spindle and the corner of the right angle. It allows me to use the crossing distance X and crossing angle beta (- alpha) to get particular alignments on different turntables.

The latest on this is that I resurrected the mirrored acrylic idea but simplified the markings.

I have used a compass point to make a dimple the right crossing distance (about 89.33mm for Baerwald/Lofgren A IEC) out from the spindle/bearing, at a right angle from the spindle to pivot line. The crossing angle (I am using 91 degrees) is shown by two parallel lines about 1mm apart so I can centre the cantilever. As before I am using a 6X fabric checker.

So far so good.

The dimensions measured correctly and the resulting alignment sounds great.
