Hi All,
As someone returning to
the path of "getting up after each record side and having to
turn it over and queue up and then sit down and listen again" I
like to call "Vinyl Mindfulness". My CD collection
looks dusty and I find myself in the peculiar situation that I look
at a CD I like and wonder "can I get this on Vinyl?" Well almost, for
a long time, well a few days I had convinced myself that the GA2 with
the PSU was the way to go but I did a comparison with Dave Brubeck
Time Out (three to get ready) and the single decider was the
cymbals...and the bass...and the cohesion from the whole
group... |

Hi Brian,
I know what you mean about a dusty CD collection, but mine received a new lease on life when I added the Majestic DAC! As for which phono stage to opt for, it depends a bit on how much upgrading your plank gets. The Accession certainly is a stonkingly good bit of kit and would show you the improvements to be had from future upgrades. Happy hunting, Mick.

I would second Mick's praise for the Majestic. It makes digital music much more involving than any of my previous DACs. However I think that's for another day, month or year as the Accession M and MC take analogue/records to another level of listening pleasure.

Mick Jon,
Thanks for setting off
"another idea" I hadn't even considered the digital route
or even looked at what was available.....oh dear...well fortunately
my current CD player doesn't have a digital output or maybe I'll hang
onto that old DVD player I was going to bin... |

Furthering that Idea. No need for a CD player. SSD + Raspberry Pi + MoOde + Majestic = Digital Nirvana. Works for quite a few of us here. Ian

Just listen, if it sounds good to you, enjoy it.

As a hardware and analogue engineer I am not blessed with the understanding of software (apart from HTML code), and I'm sure quite a lot of forum readers will be the same (or is it just me? ) I have perused the Pi topic, but still it goes right over my head (possibly like my analogue maths does to others...). I took a look at MoOade and within minutes I was completely lost, reading about putty and that I will need to configure it... eh? And what follows? And after that? John C spent a lot of time here trying to get a Pi to work from a SSD without success, and compared to me he's a computer whizz. So would somebody care to talk us dummies through how it's all done in a new topic? Bearing in mind for real dummies, those not blessed like "quite a few of us here". |

I'm like you Graham & a linear PSU powered Sq Touch into Majestic sounds superb to me.
