Just ordered the Solo Ultra-Linear Sleepy but now need to look for a pair of Interconnects to connect a DAC to the Solo.

Any recommendations for under £150 would be welcome please. Hug

I am thinking of getting a pair of second hand 1m Nordost Red Dawn (£100) or the Van Den Hul D-102 MKIII. Which would be a better match for the Solo?

I unerstand that Nordost Red Dawn has brighter sounding whilst Van Den Hul D-102 MKIII is  less so with mellow sound stage.

Question

If you choose either of those cables be aware of a couple of things -

a/ - the Red Dawn are unshielded and may be subject to pickup of noise/RFI etc,

b/ - many of the VDH D-102 sold cheaply on ebay are not factory terminated, they have been bought as bulk cable and terminated by the seller or another third-party.  The quality of this work may or may not be up to standard.

What sound characteristics you will identify and prefer is very dependent on your other equipment, music tastes and personal preferences.

Changing headphones will make a much bigger difference.

If you want to hear the amp as the designer heard it then use the cable the designer used.

There are good quality, shielded, cables, available from a number of sources relatively inexpensively if you prefer not to use the Cusat, it would be improper for me to recommend or suggest them here, perhaps check a few other forums for ideas.

Graham has also published, at one time, articles on DIY cables from inexpensive materials, these have received favourable report from those who have made them.

Does anyone know how long would it take to "burn-in" the Cusat50?
