Hello all!

I refreshed this thread as I remembered the original comment and wanted to offer another view on Voyager/SRH840.

Of late, the only cans getting head-time are the SRH840 & 940. Yes, admittedly probably ultimately just 'mid-fi' but very detailed and satisfying mid-fi !! I'm conscious that there could still be honeymoon period but I just don't remember getting as engaged with my music as I have with these two quite complementary cans.

840 - generally balanced with good timbres and instrument positioning. Clear if not forward mid-range, quite good isolation and fairly comfortable (pleather). Smooooooth, yet you can tell the recording/mastering is bad, it just becomes generally listenable. shorthand - in typical closed back studio can territory but with no obvious issues... satisfying. conceptually replaces... eeeek DT150/DT770/HD250.

940 - much less bass impact, though good extension. More detailed and better soundstage. Less forgiving of poor source/recording. Beautiful vocals, mids more forward. medium isolation, med-high comfort (velour). Conceptually replaces... DT48 (not quite!)/K701.

Best of all... both cans are very satisfying with all 3 of my Slees... overall best on UL, unsurprisingly. '06 Solo does offer a different flavour, though not as refined.

I'd be very interested to hear others experiences with these cans and their Slees.

Best

James
