A coffee filter is an ingenious idea Jon.

Got the idea from a TV show about custom cars but I thought paint filters would be expensive plus I'm not sure where I'd get them being mainly a trade item.

It is clever Jon. I did something similar years back to get sediment out of some shaken red wine but had to hand hold the paper coffee filters as the plastic cone was coffee stained and probably flavoured.

I use paint filters. Have a look on Amazon, they are not expensive.

Thanks Kevin I never thought to go on there, the paint filters would probably do a better job and make the cleaning fluid last that bit longer. I know the fluid is not going to last for ever no matter how good the filter is at doing it's job, the cleaning properties of the fluid are bound to break up after a while, amongst other things.

I suspect some of the surfactant will be filtered out but you can add a bit more to the clean water

Speaking of cleaning fluid longevity, when I got my Squeaky Clean up and running I mixed
800ml of distilled water, 200ml of 99% alcohol, and 5ml of Nick supplied fluid, to make 1 Litre of fluid.
In hindsight, this is probably 10 times the fluid I will need to clean what limited vinyl I have right now. I am wondering how long the self life will be on what I currently have mixed? I am hoping with a properly sealed container, it will last a long time? |
