Just out of curiosity as it’s not apparent to me, does it even use an off the shelf chip? I’m new to how stuff actually works i’ve never cared to look before and still don’t when it comes to sound but like i said, just curious.

If I recall correctly, it is a Wolfson chip, just like many other DACs.

But it's all about the implementation, not just what's there.

SPDIF and optically derived "TTL-level" data to Wolfson WM8804 (a CODEC configured as a decoder ), I²S connected to Wolfson WM8741 (the fully featured version that costs more), balanced connected to all inverting "discrete" instrumentation amplifiers. (discrete meaning two op-amp triples rather than two in-amp chips). The latter being our proprietary circuit, not found on any datasheets - the circuit that makes the difference.

Well Graham you lost me on the first sentence, Which isn't hard when it comes to tech, What about you Adam?
When it come to sound I don't need to know about the tech (what's in the box) as long as it sounds good that's all that matters.
Reflex M, Solo (both with PSU-1) CuSat50, Lautus, Spatia & Spatia links cables. Ortofon Bronze.

All to simplify the digital signal path as much as possible.

I understand the Majestic is being discontinued. Is there anything coming to replace it?
Philip.
