Welcome to the Forum Brian.
I only have the Reflex M, Fanfare MC and Genera, so cannot offer a personal opinion on the ERA Gold. However it would appear from comments here that the Reflex is regarded as a "step up" from the ERA Gold. The best way of finding out would be to try them at home, courtesy of the loan scheme, to make your own comparison. Happy auditioning Ian

Hello Brian and welcome to the forum. I feel compelled to respond because of your use of the word 'better'.
Clearly the Reflex M is more expensive than the Era Gold V and probably more sophisticated but I would suggest that which of these phono stages is better for you will depend on a number of factors, including the characteristics of your system and listening environment and, perhaps most importantly, that indefinable emotional reaction we get from listening to music. Rest assured, all of Graham's stuff is technically good and well made but, as already said by Ian above, the only way to find out which is better for you is to try them both. |

When I ran the UK loan scheme I tried both and agree with the points above. Whilst I personally preferred the Reflex M, the Era V Gold is a fine preamp too. |

I've never heard the EGV, as I use the Reflex. However, I know someone that bought an older model EGV recently and he is very happy with it. So, I would say the loaner program is the best way to go so you can decide for yourself.

I ran an Era Gold V for many years with a Rega 9 & MM3 & it worked beautifully.
For a few dollars more you can have the ReflexM which has just a bit more clarity & insight into the music. Thought obviously went into the product's name & the superb aesthetics of the minimalist Era Gold V front panel. The best GSP front panel. |

Majestic/Enigma, Accession MM & MC.
