I’m looking for suggestions for an MM cartridge for my upcoming “new” turntable. The TT will be based on a Lenco L75, with a PTP replacing the original top plate, set in a birch ply and valchromat plinth. The tonearm will be a Rega RB301, though in the long run I fancy an Audiomods series 6.

I use an RB1000 tonearm with a Goldring G1042 cartridge on my Manticore Mantra.

Over to you!

AT VM95ML is surprisingly good for not a lot of money.

I agree! I'm really enjoying this cartridge at the moment on my Technics 1200. Worth a look at that price.

Thank you all so far. I remember that Andrew (Drewan) is also a fan of the AN IQs. I contacted Deco Audio for up to date prices today:

The prices are as follows: IQ2 cartridge £540, IQ3 cartridge £789.
The IQ1 and 1042 are very similar in performance (the IQ1 benefits from the better body primarily).

The AT VM95ML is hugely cheaper, but how does it compare?

I have no idea personally. I seem to remember a thread on here where a member (paitientot?) made a comparison between a 1042 and the 95, but I may be completely wrong.
