I run an old Garrard 301 and can only endorse the positive comments on this topic. That said, owners of more avant garde equipment have described the look and technology as "agricultural"!  With SME having taken over Loricraft and bought the Garrard name there are rumours that a "new" 301 will be produced by SME, I believe prototypes may have already been produced.

Let us hope that rumour is true. It would be nice to see a modern implementation. The Loricraft 501 never really captured the Turntable buyers ear, nice though it is, but with the added weight of SME it may well become more accepted.
