Ifor,
Just a thought, do you really need an illuminated switch? You'll know it's on, the turntable should be going round!
My favoured mains switch is the Lorlin rotary switch, which copes well with (large) inductive loads, such as toroidal transformers that have significant inrush, so will be fine for a turntable motor. They have a very positive action with a satisfying click. Add a suitable knob such as: https://cpc.farnell.com/unbranded/22h-2d-a/knob-aluminium-22mm/dp/SW02901?st=aluminium%20knob Quite a bit cheaper, if that matters. Ian |

Ian, I certainly don’t need an illuminated switch. It’s just for a bit of unnecessary bling. I’ve already got a non-illuminated push button switch, but will consider you rotary option too. Thank you.

Ifor, I know the way it goes, you just see something and you've got to have it. One of the reasons I'm very cautious about taking further advantage of the loan scheme.

My L75 PTP6 build has not progressed since my last post; too many other things to do! In the meantime an LED illuminated switch that I had my eye on has come back into stock at RS. The LED should work at mains voltage, which is the reason I was interested in it, but it's a SPDT switch and I've got no idea how to wire it as a simple on-off switch. Can anyone advise me?
The data sheet is here https://docs-emea.rs-online.com/webdocs/1587/0900766b81587e72.pdf

Hi Ifor,
Looking at the contact configuration diagram on the datasheet, you could use terminals 3 & 4 -
the 'normally open' switch contacts to make/break the live wire. The two centre terminals are presumably the LED. One terminal would need to be wired to the unswitched mains line & the other to the 'on' side of the switched mains line. I hope this is correct - please take care with mains |

I've had a few belts off the mains over the years - not a pleasant experience .
Good luck with the build. |
