It should not be necessary to remove the headshell to remove or replace the cartridge when the arm is not of the removeable headshell type.
Just undo the cartridge clips/leads and the two cartridge mounting bolts and job done.

Sure, I can take the cart off the Ittok but I can’t put it on the Technics unless I buy a suitable headshell. They’re quick release jobbies.
Problem is that I suspect the Ittok headshell is not completely level & this could be the cause of the problem. I can’t budge the screws so I can’t level it or remove it.

I could buy another cart & fit it to the wonky Ittok headshell but that could end up just the same.

Just found out you can’t remove or adjust the Ittok headshell.
Must be an optical illusion. Or knackered 80s/90s barings??

Anyways, I sent out an SOS to the Linnista(s?) of the huge LP12 FaceBook forum & they appear to have come up trumps.
Got a good recommendation of a chap with long experience who’s near enough to pop over & go through it all.

‘Tinternet is a good thing for the ignorant like myself!

I shall report back (whether you want me to or not 😬)

Huzzah!

Interesting problem.

One of the things the fellow asked me to try was to play a 12” that clips @ 45rpm at 33.3.  Still distorted. 🤔

Be great to have a pro go over the TT & set it up proper like.

Pretty excited actually cos although it sounds good I’ve always thought that it should be/could be better.
If we can trace the fault(s) I shall be hoping for improvements.

🤞🏻
