So Last year I sold my old Rega P3 & bought a pimped up Inspire DC Carbon LP12 with Ittok & 2M Black cart.
It was Inspire’s ex demo show deck I’m told. You can see a pic of the actual one on their website last time I looked.

Been enjoying it although it was running slow to begin with. Fortunately you can adjust the pots in the PSU.

Anyhoo, I’ve rarely played 45s on it. It being in the front room, I’m usually playing jazz or some electonica LPs. Pretty sure I have at some point tho.
So the other night I drunkenly whacked on some Drum & Bass singles & they sounded awful (don’t go there ☝🏻)!  The high frequencies were so glitchy & distorted that I actually thought my tweeters had blown.  So I take the offending 45s & try them on the Technics 1210s (there usual stomping ground).
They sound just fine.
Ok I think, probably just need a clean, the L*nn is mighty fussy. A bad recording/worn disc WILL sound rubbish.
Tonight I tried a brand new D&B 45 & that too is distorted.
Top end sounds like there’s a scratch on the disc or a pile of fluff on the stylus.  Ticking & glitching rhythmically.

Plays fine on the 1210s.

The L*nn sounds great @ 33.3rpm, awful/unlistenable @ 45rpm.
Like the gain is too high on the HF.

Any ideas chaps???  Bare in mind I’m pretty much ignorant in the mystical ways of turntables. I have no idea how to check alignment n stuff. Pretty sure tracking weight is correct for the cart but that’s as far as I go.

What would make the tweeters only distort at 45rmp??

🧐 May swap the Revelation for the old GA 2SE & see if it makes a difference.

I’d ask Robert at Inspire but I think I’m already on thin ice after I asked him why his (now my) TT was lacking in bass/warmth.
It isn’t, just sounded that way initially compared to my fuzzy & forgiving old Rega.

Most odd....

D&B 45s.
12"?

What's your downforce?
The stylus will have a harder time tracking at 45rpm.
If the downforce is too low the stylus won't sit solidly in the groove.

hi Chris

I think the cart output is fairly high @ 5millivolts

Tracking weight should be 1.5g I believe. I’m running it @ 1.7 in the hope of pulling more bass off the records (Robert’s advice after I asked why it sounded bass light to my ears 🤭).

5mv should be within the specs of the pre amp no?
