What I'm doing is writing the design and technical information manual for constructors of the Conclusion-P power amplifier (a fitting name I thought).

Interesting News ....

Being very careful making the necessary modifications to the two amplifier channel PCB's. Trying to make them easy to build, and not having to tag things underneath anymore.

My hope is that I can have the boards back by next week so I can populate them and fit them into the modified chassis. Then test the amp thoroughly.

I am having to change input filter values for it to comply with the various standards required for EMC and ESD, for me to be confident it will pass the 4KV electrostatic discharge contact test on the signal input.

After all this work, compliance represents another workload which has to be done before it is appropriate to release a product to the general public.

This work is now in progress in parallel with the final build and checking.

Here is a permitted sample download of one of the standards that must be applied.

Please feel free to scroll through it.

Tut tut, getting you standards from Estonia (like every other sensible person does!!). I’ll never understand why BSi make them so expensive.

I like that the first couple of pages show that basic and supplementary protection should be applied to sources of thermal energy with a valve amp as an example.
There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Unfortunately for all of us these Standards Documents have become rather useless to anyone but lawyers. This document seems to have severely overworked. The primary requirement which is "if you make any of these devices, you should make best endeavour to prevent users from being hurt by it" is laudable and no doubt the intention of the original drafting committee. The army of bureaucrats and "experts" that examine, add, translate and cross reference the original draft before publication turn the good intentions into unwieldy, unfathomable and pretty much unusable documents. A gravy train for the bureaucrats in Standards Organisations and an unnecessary clouding of the original intent of the Standards Drafting Committee.
Don't ask me how I know!  (OK, so I had the pleasure of sitting on some BSi drafting committees - not electronics I must add.)

PS the download is only 44 page of 300+ pages.

PPS I didn't find any reference to guarding against dropping heavy equipment on your foot, a glaring omission!

And from my observations, a full time job for the some Company employees as 'Committee Sitters' Sometimes bringing technical expertise but more often just protecting 'their Company's' product design solutions!
