my wish for 2024 is the 70'S Amp is offered in a semi or near completed DAK product to propagate better appreciation of music in it's acoustic structure and format AND that it's dedicated complement Pre Amp is ready offered in less cumbersome construction or (near fully built )to enthusiast bespoke enclosure/case.

They could add up quite easily, much depending on vision. (vision can be taken two ways, but in my case my eyesight was failing - plus I got the shakes ) |

The sound of the 60's/70's was packed in subtle nuances charged to reach human emotion and my finite baffle speakers of the time did not rely on flare port to boost bass, the musicality was tender and sweet and deeply felt. Music has changed and Values to need larger bass port incorporated and subwoofers to drowned the music and only rhythm and beat control the essence of the music stage in the 21st century to provide the 'hype'.
I chose Speakers carefully with good volume and only accept tiny port tune to 38 -48 Hz to hear the warming tone of the " Contre basse " plucking string against a large cavity and 70'S Amp and my nostalgia get me there. There is many like me and we the " Old generation with a large population " and 70'S Amp with some Marketing consideration can reach them. It so deserve and the " Old dears" would be better fulfilled.

Did the wooden cased 7eventy get properly finished off? it would be a real shame if five and a half years' work only had 4 units to show for it. But I guess the economics just don't add up .

Regarding bass. In the wooden boxed unit there was room for 4700uF output capacitors on chassis clips, so I used that value. The three metal cased units have 2200uF fitted. I have one - Sylvain has one - and the other one is the one out on loan currently with Jon. On reverting to the metal cased unit I noticed a change in overall tone similar to how the loan unit is being described compared with the Proprius. So by the looks of it, it's just the output capacitor size. The Proprius use 2x2200uF making 4400uF which is very close to 4700uF. It's now a year since the 7eventy power amp went on its travels, and a year since I realised it was too much like pushing melted butter uphill with a sharpened porcupine needle, in getting the thing made in Blighty. Five and a half years since I started this topic it looks more and more unlikely ever to happen. Mine is being used to listen to the news, weather forecasts, videos, skypes and other broadcasts, as well as music, and I'm highly satisfied with it (preamp is a Majestic). I don't get the itch to make any changes and it just sits there always on with its quiescent meter readings being a constant "12." So as a personal indulgence it's a winner. I remember saying to someone that all I wanted was a good old transistor amp like I'd heard some 50 years ago. Well, I got what I asked for.
