I use Discogs quite a bit.
Pick a seller with decent feedback, and you're sorted.
I've bought loads from Discogs, and no problems with anything I've bought.

I'd second Chris' experience with Discogs.

Me too. Bought stuff from Europe as well as UK without a hitch.

It is not near to Plymouth but I have been to a good record shop in Exeter a couple of times in the past, on the high street down the hill behind the Cathedral close.

There is (was in 2014/15) a good second hand and new record shop next to the bus station in Truro. I can't remember seeing one in the various other towns we have visited like Falmouth, Bodmin, St Ives, Launceston, St Austell, etc. but others may know better. There were plenty of charity shops with vinyl around and I think I shopped in some in Plymouth where you are!

Not a shop per se but I can recommend Brett Grant @ http://www.classicrecords.co.uk/ if you are looking for specific classical recordings.
I have purchased from him for a good number of years now and never had a disappointment.
