Okay Mr Sly
So I have commit to one output voltage only, unless I purchase two. The product will cost about the same as a Solo or single Proprius and be bigger than both. |

Ah, I see you've researched one of the origins of my surname ;-)
To be legal it will need to have two simultaneously available output voltages, whether the other will ever be used or not. I propose it should be labelled "unregulated 20 VDC nom." and be taken from the input side of the regulator. (A similar thing makes the PSU1 (and Enigma) legal, and in one application - the Majestic - both outputs are used simultaneously) I suppose if we make this an owners club exclusive, I could remove sufficient trade mark-up for it to meet your price target. |

Is there an estimated time of arrival for this product? How many hurdles do you have left to jump?

That's welcome news. Is the plan still to offer either kit or ready built?

Erm, yes, sort of.
Compared to painting by numbers kits it won't be very user friendly. It won't be for the faint hearted. The clue is in my original trading name (which still exists by the way) - the 3rd and final word: Projects. It's a project! The sort of thing you'd build from a magazine project, but with the offer of a nice case, circuit board, and parts kit. Unlike those good old days things have become quite expensive outside of places like the PRC. Those old enough to remember may recall things being made in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), which meant a surplus of electronic components was available cheaply via hobby electronics suppliers (Electrovalue; Maplin; Ambit etc). And also, there were plenty of box engineers with access to locally produced metals and engineering plastics, having the equipment to make small runs of specialist boxes. There were people, who could screenprint to the required standards, and there were screenprinting suppliers in places like Leeds and Manchester, whose vans would drop off a can of ink and recover burst screens quite cheaply. But through selling England by the Pound, rather cheaply, since 1973, all that went abroad, leaving people like me having to spend vast fortunes on minimum order quantities, or paying top dollar for just a few components via RS and Farnell; even having to import stuff via Mouser and Digikey. If you didn't know, the people who are left - not the "Bond like industry chiefs" in the magazines: I'm talking about people like me - are just everyday ordinary guys (working class by accident of career) who have a passion for good electronics design. So if you see things like this power supply costing several hundreds of Pounds, and think I'm coining it in, you'd be wrong. |
