I read somewhere on the Internet that the current draw by the PI was very dependant upon its application, but no numbers. This lead me to consult my build notes to remind myself what I measured when I was building my PreAmp where a PI2B is installed as a media server, it said 150 mA. However that was without it doing anything!
This made me search for more information, particularly as I am considering an upgrade to an even more watty (is that a word?) PI 3B.
I found the following interesting articles:
and
for 3B notes.

It seems that the highest current draw occurs when PI is running a USB 3.0 SSD, with lower, but significant amounts for other USB connected devices.

Something to consider with this forums varied applications!
Graham's 'Battleship' PSU will of course do it all, wiring permitting of course!

First load test.

Duration 90 minutes.

5 volts at 3 amps.

Heatsink temperature rise: 24C (22C ambient + 24C = 46C).

V out at 3A 5.00V
V out at 100mA 5.10V

Load regulation 2% (measured at output terminals to include wiring resistance. Not at regulator which would be a false reading).

That none should be able to buy or sell without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps

I'm hoping this PSU produces a really noticeable improvement to the Bitzie. Looking forward to comparing it against the Majestic.
