Correct Jon, recommended 2 disc high in 3 stacks.

I have my CD player back for a warranty repair, would you like me to send you the 6 to try or your Gyro as well?  I am finding I am ploughing through my vinyl collection during 2018 so the absence of the Antila and focus on vinyl mean o won’t miss this for a little while?

Richard has kindly loaned me his Les Davis discs which are under my Michell Gorbe's spikes with old one Punt coins under them to spread the weight out. I think it is making a subtle difference but I will listen a bit longer.

It is worth noting my Gorbe has the Pedersen suspension mods i.e. it is hung on O-rings not springs, and laterally constrained by wires. So any effect would not be not comparable to that on a standard Michell.

I like the thinking behind those mods.
Hanging a deck from springs is not ideal, as the springs effectively become tuned by the mass of the chassis hanging by them.
A tuned mass will have sympathetic resonances at the tuned frequency.

The lateral constraining wires should help reduce wow and flutter.

Agreed about the resonances in the system. It has to be said that the springs do ring if you gently flick them with a finger so they probably respond to music too, whether directly off the record or via the speakers.

I found the differences subtle as you say but ultimately beneficial. Never tried my suspended source without them.  cD still away so not desperate for them yet!
