I've often argued that the late 1970's saw a year zero in music as the record labels scrambled around to find bands that would sell. This opened doors to young bands and new ideas in music that influence to this day.

You already know I was born into this most magnificent of musical era's Jon! 14 years old and Peel showing me and my mates the way. The golden era of independent labels. Having just aquired my new VPI Scout 2 TT, I been digging out my carefully preserved first issue UK pressings (Porky Cuts) of seminal post punk and the better new wave material LPS. My oh my how flaming good does Joy Division sound thru the TT, my stereo - and now the Senn HD250II and LCD2.2 !!! The bass is right there centred in the mix beautifully so I can hear every note now, rather than just a rumble. I sorta estimate my 1978 - 1984 vinyl collection at around 1000 LPS. That's a few innit.

Rhino putting out really great remastered vinyl on 180g is further expanding this collection. Roll on the vinyl resurrection. I so feel for those peeps who dumped their vinyl for digital tally. Bad move!

Ah those were the days and I do enjoy playing out the LP's and singles from 1980 +/- 3. Carefully stored and cleaned with my RCM for more music. Listening to the John Peel Show.. memories!

Thanks Dillon. I was listening to Reproduction earlier this evening and picked up the Flying Lizards' LP whilst on holiday.
