Anyone have a recommendation for the Enigma Variations on vinyl?

Edit: just saw the news, my condolences to our cousins across the pond. A few years ago a friend of mine played an organ arrangement of the Nimrod variation for her father's funeral. It's was perfect and beautiful.

As much as I love Boult's EMI, Zubin Mehta with the Los Angeles Phil is my go-to version.

Got my copy, this was a good rec, thank you (though a little surprised Ives’s first symphony was the A side). I challenge anyone who doubts the dynamics of vinyl to get through them without riding the volume knob.

The Ives is the curtain raiser to the Elgar! Isn't it a great recording and performance?Big smile

Very good. I hadn't played the Mehta conducted Variations before and thank you very much Bob.

Good way of thinking about it! And works for the other one I picked up at the same time: Braxton playing the A side, Rzewski  the B. You do not want to follow Rzewski.
