Well, I didn't get to listen a lot last night; just the one album and was interrupted by a phone call from my mother and dinner. FWIW, my immediate first impression was that it is so easy to listen to. A couple of years or so ago I brought home, for a few days, a Cyrus DAC/amp from the local Audio-T. I put on Queen's Innuendo and we were gobsmacked by how good it sounded ... for 5 or 10 minutes, before it sunk in that we actually hated its harshness and couldn't possibly live with it. I'll listen to Innuendo through the Majestic later today.

Last night as TAAB2 was nearing the end (I hadn't made any comment), SWMBO said, "it's really very good isn't it? How much is it"? I lied (exaggerated the value of the members' discount) and was told, "it'll have to wait until after we've done the kitchen". All in all, not a bad result for one interrupted album.

Tonight the Reflex M will have to do its stuff with a brand new copy of The Best Years Of Our Lives, which was delivered yesterday. Larks Tongues In Aspic might arrive today too.

I've done no more listening yet, but at lunchtime I found an old CA Atlantic interconnect and have used it in place of a couple of digital coaxial leads; one cable to connect my Cyrus CD 8SE to the Majestic and the other to connect the cheapo Philips DVD player to the Majesctic. I'm now wishing the loan Majectic wasn't fixed output level on the RCA outs. If it were variable I could neatly switch between the Cyrus onboard DAC and the Majestic to compare them. Not so easy when the Cyrus is louder.

Ifor,

You mentioned  'Best years of our lives' - would that be the Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel album?
If so, a great choice. I still think that 'The Human Menagerie' is quite possibly the best album that I have ever heard. The orchestration and background vocals are truly stunning. I thought that I enjoyed The MOODY Blues Here is to Future days orchestration and vocals, but Cockney Rebel did it to an incredible level. 'Death Trip' about you last day on earth knowing that you will die that day is a fantastic track and is totally brought to life by Grahams kit. I would urge every fan hear of Grahams kit to hear this fabulous masterpiece.

Keep up the great comments and reviews.

....look what they've done to the blues, blues, blues!Tongue
...If only I knew that yesterday!

The DAC section of the Majestic brought more presence, detail, body, spaciousness, colour, texture and ease to my system than I've ever had. The preamp section adds to that a tighter image focus, slightly narrower but far deeper soundstage, enhanced sense of 3D, more hall ambience and reverb (natural or post-production) and a greater dynamic range. That's the hifi bit.
The music bit is an intensification of what I'd already heard with the DAC section and previously with my Reflex; albums go on, get played end to end with fantastic engagement. I'm even getting through less beer!
Thanks, GSP Audio for my best ever audio purchase.
Mick.
+1 Thumbs Up

Ha! I decided to do a Sinatra session tonight. Both studio albums with Count Basie, Live at The Sands and LA Is My Lady. My beer got warm from being ignored.
