I have a number of well worn LP's (e.g. 1st Rickie Lee Jones' first LP) that were very crackly before despite cleaning and more pleasant to listen to with the R100-02.

Buying used LPs is a gamble & its encouraging that there are carts available with a stylus shape
that can still extract music from grooves damaged through the neglect of a previous owner.

Sometime I bought used records. I got lots of small particle digged out on the first play, I guess it is because of the smaller diamond on my mc cart. And the record become very quiet and sounds pretty good after that. I think it is dust got pushed inside the deeper grooves by a bigger stylus tip. I also tried this wash machine but it doesn't clean those small particle, perhaps a stylus tip is small than the brush. (but it does a fine job to clean visible dust and mold)

Getting a little off-topic here but I've found the Knosti cleaner of limited use.
Records look clean after using it but gunk is left which is dragged up by the stylus.
A vacuum m/c such as the Moth gets nearly all the crud out.
They're not particularly cheap but are pretty much essential for a collector of used vinyl.
No amount of cleaning will rescue some old records however.

Rich, as I said earlier, I'd compare worn records (and surface noise generally) with the Ortofon Vivo Red and the Zyx R100.
It wasn't a night and day difference, but worn records sounded a little clearer with the Zyx, and surface noise, ticks and pops were a bit quieter and more detached from the music with the Zyx; maybe "recessed" is a better description. The noises seemed on a different layer which made them easier to ignore.

Thanks for the comparison Bob.
The Zyx sounds like a top choice for a collection with a lot of older, 2nd hand & 'distressed' LPs.

You guys have put it well. I use an Okki Nokki RCM and even with that my well played and second hand records are more listenable with the Zyx. The surface scratches and crackle seem quieter and don't get in the way of the music.
