My thanks again to fellow members who recommended the Hana series and for the second hand deal I have benefitted from. The SL is doing its wonders on a variety of music styles, outperforms my well used R100L, and it is as enjoyable to listen to as the much more expensive Phoenix.

I can see the POV's you are both expressing and wonder if the bit that would help from the Audiomods document is helping optimise the cartridge sound. Assuming a neutral phono stage but not knowing which tonearm our members would try, perhaps it is really about the different character of different cartridges with setup tips like VTF, loading, SRA/arm angle?

One of the things I like about the Hana SL is bags of detail without too much treble as I have had a few cartridges that drew attention to singers' lisps. The latter may be sibilance on the pressing and/or a cartridge characteristic but it breaks the spell for me.

....there is a section on the Audiomods website on cartridges Jeff has had reports from his customers.  That is one option for structure/layout.

Bob thanks. The point perhaps trying to be made was that quite often questions are asked whether Catt A will work with an era gold/ reflex.  Whilst the answers should be yes I suspect people are comforted to know that others use it and good results are obtained?

All this talk of threads and needles (as my mother used to call styluses). We need a sub-forum for cross-stitch fans . . . LOL

TBH I've never found a cartridge not to perform well with any of Graham's phono amps. Maybe I've never had one with crazy loading needs. The thread might get quite repetitive - does xxx cartridge work well with the EGV? Yes. Does yyy work with the ReflexM? Yes. etc etc.

Maybe I'm missing something here - quite likely as senility beckons Wink . . .

Now peoples' opinions about cartridges is a different matter. A thread called something like "Tell us about your cartridges" could go down well.

Okay, open to suggestions on how to host users' views on their cartridges please? Right now I'm moving the stylus microscope stuff out from here.

I will sidestep the name thing, but how about structuring by brand then subsections by model.  This perhaps could be extended with a further section on GSP phon stages and comments by model?

There is probably a way knitting the two together but beyond my simple mind but some form of dataBase, the GSP ones could be linked to the product page?

There have been many comments in differing threads over the years which in theory could be fed in to these.
