At the same time as I ordered the Bantock (£1.64 by the way from my favourite company on Amazon - Zoverstocks) I ordered Bliss's Cello Concerto/Hymn to Apollo/The Enchantress on Chandos (£0.87), Bridge's Cello Concerto on Nimbus (£0.01), and Byways of British Music on Chandos (£0.01) as well as 3 more CDs by non-English composers so I've a bit to be going on with before I start delving into your suggestions Bob. LOL

You've lots of nice music to look forward to Paul! I too have used Zoverstocks for many items - at those prices its worth exploring unfamiliar music . . . Wink

Prompted by your post yesterday I've unearthed one of my Alwyn records at the moment - another Lyrita (what else!) disc of the 2nd Symphony conducted by the composer. It's good to have the musical memory jogged! Thumbs Up

Thinking about 20th century symphonies a bit off the beaten track, those of Martinu and Vagn Holmboe are a good listen, too.

To kick off this thread again...
Had never heard of Moeran until coming across this brilliant new recording.
Includes interesting works by Delius, Holst & Elgar & the headline RVW piece
is beautifully played.

If you enjoyed the Moeran violin concerto try the stunning cello concerto and the sinfonietta. Also the Symphony in G minor.
