After reading an article on my phone about the top ten tracks that made the band I dug R.E.M's album "Out Of Time". The track they said made the band what it is, was "Losing My Religion" this was not the track that got me into them, that was "Shiny Happy People" This was the track Michael Stipe refused to put on their greatest hits album saying it was too happy a song.

After playing Out Of Time, I ended up playing "Editors" The Back Room. My favourite tracks being Munich & Blood. Can't think why I ended up playing Editors I just finished playing Out Of Time and thought lets play the Editors.

American Girls by... American Girls. This was a charity shop find which I'd not heard before, but vaguely remembered reading about. Besides being label mates of the Go Gos, other comparisons had been suggested. I suppose superficially their sound is along the same lines, although vocally it depends which of the two singers is leading. One does possess a Carlisle-esque quality, but for some reason the other puts me in mind of Tina Turner though she doesn't sound like her. Anyway, a good find I thought, an enjoyable listen from 1986. It prompted me to follow, not with the Go Gos, but Belinda Carlisle's Live Your Life Be Free, which I've not played in a while.
