Picked up a copy of John Martyn's 'Live At Leeds', originally recorded 1976 and this is a '87 release. It looked in  good nick but on first play after a cursory clean I thought I'd bought a dud, full on crackle and noise.  A good clean on Moth (new to me, thanks to Steve) and wow what an improvement. I always liked John's playing with Danny Thompson on bass and this simple 3 piece band (John Stevens on drums) recorded live is really good. The acoustics of Leeds Uni refectory is captured and makes you feel present in the hall. The magnificent bass line is something to enjoy.

BTW if you want a good laugh, find Danny Thompson on YouTube, 'An Evening With Danny Thompson' filmed at the CAT Club round the corner from me in Pontefract. Some tales about John Martyn and learning a 3 chord progression.

Disclaimer: THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THIS FORUM

Picked up a ton of great stuff this weekend for RSD here in US. Little Feat, Buck Owens, Wrens, Staples Singers, etc. But did some crate digging also and found two gems for US $1 each: the self titled debuts for both Asia and Flock of Seagulls. Fantastic pressings from the 80's and with a little clean-up great plays. Also: recently bought all six Traffic Island/UMC vinyl remasters and they sound amazing to me. Crisp, well separated soundstage. Barleycorn probably best of the lot.

Welcome aboard! I am enjoying Madonna's Ray of Light, which I have played through various new setups over the years. There's a lot in the mix so a good system in a good room makes this album come alive.
