After more than 30 years I cannot resist - first Supraphon pure analog reissue!
Essential classic of Czech music in finest interpration.
A. Dvořák - Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104. M. Rostropovich + Czech Philharmonic Orchestra cond. V. Talich. Historic mono recording, 1952.

My pressing is unfortunately warped (not that much). And mastering deck (probably AEG Telefunken I saw in their mastering rooom) used 2-track headstack. Such a shame! But the sound is suprisingly good and music just floats around with sheer beauty and sweetness.

Michal

My first time back on forum for a long while.

Just before Christmas I came across a You Tube video of Jennifer Nettles singing Holy Night. I had never heard of her before and was simply stunned at the quality of her voice. Accompanied by a single acoustic guitar this is a singular performance in a radio station studio. Impressed? You betcha!

Listening through my new Accession MM while burning in. (I got impatient waiting after a week

I find that I prefer live jazz recording to studio if recorded well. This is a great set of Miles Davis at his peak with a stellar group of musicians. This IMPEX pressing is outstanding.

Nice tip on the Miles Davis. I have several of his albums, but none are live. I'll check it out.

Hi Les, I'll check out Jennifer Nettles too. Simple arrangements are some of my favorite (being an acoustic guitar player. I assume you've heard Eva Cassidy, but if not she's probably someone you should check out. Her version of Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird" is amazing, Jon.

Aubrey Johnson’s album “Unraveled”.

She’s wonderful. Video work is questionable, but the music isn’t!

Now almost 300 hours on my Accession MM and listening to Art Pepper Live at Ronnie Scotts. This is my current favorite live jazz set. Recorded over 2 days in June 1980. The sound quality is excellent, as is the mastering and pressing. Bit expensive but there are 7 LPs and each one a gem.

The Accession has really opened up now and the clarity is amazing. Best I have been able to retrieve from this recording.
