From yesterday, had to play one of my favorite albums that I haven't played in awhile. Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth. This edition is a 2xCD set that also has singles and demos on a second disc.

SL-1200 MK7 (modified) + Reflex M + PSU-1 used with AT150-40ML, AT VM95ML, Stanton 680mkII + Ogura, and Shure M35X cartridges.

Fine choice! It is a classic of the time. My LP gets played more often than just now and then.

Three recent releases have grabbed me ...

Anthony Wilson, The Plan of Paris
Performances that at first seem simple turn out to be incredibly nuanced.  This record features the best rhythm section around today - David Piltch and Jay Bellerose.  Produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray.

Mary Gauthier, Dark Enough to See the Stars
Raw and rewarding.  Listening to this entire record might be just too much desperation at one sitting.  You are forewarned.

Charlie Musselwhite, Mississippi Son
In his seventh decade of performing, this Gentleman of the Blues is still teaching us about hard living in the deep south.

enjoy!

Today's pick is "Hotrod Hotel" by East Village, which is a UK indie rock band that was around in the late 80s/early 90s. This LP is a compilation of their singles/EP tracks reissued by the American indie label Slumberland. I'm glad to have this as the original singles and EPs as well as the previous issues of this compilation are difficult to come by in the U.S.

Hopefully the rest of the band's small catalog will be reissued as well.
