And now for something completely different!
Prompted by an interesting biog of Joan Armatrading on the box at the weekend I dug out my old copy of Shouting Stage to convert to Flac. What a unique singer songwriter she is! This was emphasised when I was editing the Flac Tags, what genre should I choose? I am not a huge fan of folk orientated (??) music but she sometimes suits my mood. But back to the thread, a one-off Who track I really find breathtaking is 'Saturday Night's Allright for Fighting' on the Two Rooms LP/CD. Elton John songs by other artists. You feel the excitement coming out of the speakers! It also has Sinead O'Connor singing 'Sacrifice', very dark and moody. |

This is a pretty cool DVD of Deep Purple black & white live footage from 1972/73. I had never heard of it...won it a few years ago by doing a survey for a local rock radio station. Nice surprise! |

Do you like prog? Do yourself a favour and listen to this masterpiece. Opeth's new album mixes Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin (that killer riff in "Heart in hand"!!!!) and King Crimson, without ever feeling derivative. This is a wonderfully layered album, hard rocking and arty. It takes a while to grow, definitely not an immediate love, but patience pays off: together with Opeth's own previous "Pale communion", this new "In cauda venenum" is modern prog at its best. Good mastering both on CD and vinyl, by the way! Edited by Lucabeer - 04 Oct 2019 at 11:53pm |
