Usually I come up with a clever name for a new product, but this time I drew a blank. It is however part of the Lautus range of cables.
The Power Wire is the answer for people wanting to run the Bitzie with a separate power supply, and a separate power supply does make a difference! The Power Wire carries the USB signal from computer to the Bitzie in the same way as the Lautus USB cable does - but it doesn't grab its power off the USB socket. A second run of cable loops into the computer end A-plug from a secondary A-plug, and this is plugged into any reliable 5V DC USB power supply or even a phone or sat-nav charger! In fact, it will also grab power from "in-seat" plane supplies where there's a 5V USB socket. We tried it with the simple USB power supply shown in the picture (sorry, we don't include the supply with the Power Wire, they're cheap enough to buy elsewhere). The difference is audible but I'm not going to say how. I think it time to get John C making some for the loaner program, so step up and get your request in now! It may be found that a linear power supply improves the sound further - we're looking into that too. |

Will you be able to supply the cable with alternate ends eg Micro USB for those handicapped by non GSP amps .

Was asking for something like this months ago. =P
If you could make it so a PSU1 provides the 5V whilst the Lautus USB cable is just used to carry the audio signal, it would probably sound almost indistinguishable from the Majestic. Although the Majestic converts USB to SPDIF before the analogue conversion, whereas Bitzie uses the USB chip to carry out the analogue conversion. Still would sound close, I think. |

Working on that. Bit difficult obtaining the appropriate plugs to assemble these ourselves. Others get the Chinese to make cables but there are large minimum order quantities, plus then it wouldn't be made in Britain. |
