I've often found that the intuitiveness of software decreases with the selling price. Ease of use goes out the window when more and more bells and whistles (that very few users need) are loaded onto a good, basic program in order to justify a price rise.

Yes, opening up a program & being faced with a Windows screen full of arcane looking icons
is irksome! Many of them are ignored & seem unnecessary to get the job done.

Freepcb isn't bad for what it costs. The clue is in the title.

It shows how others struggled with the existing PCB software and Graham's skill in finding the tools to make our music sound better.

Unfortunately here at work we have little choice but to pay the lunatic price of this
manufacturing software if we want to be competitive in a tough marketplace, but Graham's resourcefulness in finding cost effective tools is to all GSP user's benefit.Thumbs Up

Some shots of the NPS assembled...

New Phono Stage Assembly 1

New Phono Stage Assembly 2

New Phono Stage Assembly 3

The teeth are a gasket to ground the ground plane of the PCB to the inside of the front panel, and in addition to the grounding afforded by the pot nut. The reason is that this phono stage has been engineered to the nth degree of EMC and ESD compliance. You'll also note the fully shielded RCA sockets, which when used with 360 degree shielded plugs (as fitted to our interconnects) afford maximum EMC pick-up protection. Even the link wires are twisted with wires grounded both ends to afford maximum shielding. Overall shielding will be the case, which should feature sometime soon.

The level control acts on the variable output to provide the ideal signal level for ADC users. It can also be used to drive a power amp - maybe a pair of Proprius? - in a vinyl-only system. There is also a fixed level output.

Switches are for mono; constant amplitude out (cartridge equalisation only) for those wanting "true or piezo flat"; and three EQs for RIAA, British (such as FFRR), and American (such as NAB) and intended for LPs and singles. For 78s there's still the Jazz Club and Revelation.
That none should be able to buy or sell without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps

Looking good!

Are those DIP switches in the white housing at the left rear?
