I actually find a lot of decent records at yard sales (here in the states). You can usually pick up some decent gems for .25 cents or so. I also have had great experiences with Discogs. Although, I usually only buy mint or near mint, depending on what I’m buying.

I also have had good luck with Discogs. I tend to use this if there is something very specific I am looking for that I am unlikely to find at a brick and mortar. I do really enjoy the "thrill of the hunt" that comes with going record shopping at used record shops, thrift stores, and garage sales and finding something amazing by pure chance. I have stumbled on some great music that I didn't know I would enjoy until I picked it up on a whim and brought it home.

Agree about Discogs. The sellers there seem to be a lot better than on ebay although I have been able to pick up a few there as well.

I live in a small university town called Ann Arbor in Michigan and we are fortunate to have 3 record shops that always seem to be quite busy - especially on Record Store Day.

I agree about more consistency at Discogs but love box shuffling through old records in charity (thrift) stores.

Not sure about the UK. There are a couple of good ones in the USA - acousticsounds.com and elusivedisc.com

Of course there is always ebay although you have to be careful who you buy from. Even Amazon for new stuff. I have used them all.
